Alanis y Jung

image Pensaba que Alanis Morrisette  tenía que conocer de la psicología de Carl Jung pues el contenido de varias de sus canciones revela principios fundamentales de esta psicología. En esta entrevista valida mi hipotesis:
And so it is that I find myself early one Monday morning, in an antiseptic room in one of London's more expensive hotels, with the Canadian superstar holding court on the benefits of a form of treatment she is currently undergoing, known as Shadow Therapy. Apparently, Carl Jung first coined the phrase. She endeavours to explain.

"Basically, it's a process to help locate the different parts of one's self - all parts, both good and bad, light, shadow and dark - to help create a whole. And that, for want of a better word, is my goal. To become whole. It doesn't matter whether that means whole in my anger or my rage or my greed or my generosity or any other polarity. The aim, simply, is to be whole and be OK with that." She stops talking, and I am grateful. "Does that make sense?" she wonders.

Y para ejemplo, con una de sus canciones basta:

Red Rain

Peter Gabriel comentó lo siguiente en torno al sueño que lo llevó a escribir Red Rain:

De libro  "Peter Gabriel"  de Spencer Bright
Gabriel: "Years ago I had a recurring dream. I was swimming in a swirling sea of red and black. I remember a tremendous turmoil as the sea was parted by two white walls. A series of bottles, of human shape, were carrying the red water from one wall to another, then dropping down to smash into little pieces at the bottom of the second wall. I used this for a scene in a story in which the red sea and red rain from which it was formed represented thoughts and feelings that were being denied."

De  "Peter Gabriel"  por  Armando Gallo (1986)
Gabriel: "Blood. I believe that if feelings or pain do not get brought out, not only do they fester and grow stronger but they manifest themselves in the external world. For example, if a personal storm cannot be outwardly expressed it will appear in life in events with other people or in this case in a cloudburst. The original idea grew out of a story about a character called Mozo, but it has become more personal and the red sea creates a distance, a distance from love."

Red rain is coming down
Red rain
Red rain is pouring down
Pouring down all over me
I am standing up at the waters edge in my dream
I cannot make a single sound as you scream
It cant be that cold, the ground is still warm to touch
This place is so quiet, sensing that storm
Red rain is coming down
Red rain
Red rain is pouring down
Pouring down all over me
Well Ive seen them buried in a sheltered place in this town
They tell you that this rain can sting, and look down
There is no blood around see no sign of pain
Hay ay ay no pain
Seeing no red at all, see no rain
Red rain is coming down
Red rain
Red rain is pouring down
Pouring down all over me
Red rain-
Putting the pressure on much harder now
To return again and again
Just let the red rain splash you
Let the rain fall on your skin
I come to you defences down
With the trust of a child
Red rain is coming down
Red rain
Red rain is pouring down
Pouring down all over me
And I cant watch any more
No more denial
Its so hard to lay down in all of this
Red rain is coming down
Red rain is pouring down
Red rain is coming down all over me
I see it
Red rain is coming down
Red rain is pouring down
Red rain is coming down all over me
Im bathing in it
Red rain coming down
Red rain is coming down
Red rain is coming down all over me
Im begging you
Red rain coming down
Red rain coming down
Red rain coming down
Red rain coming down
Over me in the red red sea
Over me
Over me
Red rain
